Makahiki

Makahiki (mah-kah-HEE-kee) is a 3D game based on the Hawaiian cultural festival of Peace. You will be playing as a young man who competes in the sport of O’o Ihe (Oh-oh-EE-Hey) (spear throwing). In Makahiki, you will be challenged to change your perspective as new obstacles arise. Use your skillful aim to prove to the Lāhui (Hawaiian term for group of people) that you are the best, and come out on top for your Moku (district).

The Makahiki season is a time of peace among the endless war of ancient Hawai’i that is dedicated to the god of Harvest “Lonoikamakahiki”(Loh-Noh-EE-Kah-Mah-Kah-EE-Hee). The season takes place during the months of October to late January. When Makahiki is underway, the Hawaiian people would partake in games such as HukiHuki (Mah-Kah-Hee-Kee) (The Hawaiian name for Tug of war), Kūkini (Coo-Kee-Nee) (The Hawaiian Name for long distance sprinting), Kōnane (Koh-Nah-Nay) (The Hawaiian checkers) and many more to test the different Mokuʻs (Moh-Coo) (The Hawaiian districts divided to the people intricately) abilities to show who is the strongest and smartest.
