Alebrije

Alebrije is a floaty 2D platformer exploring the preservation of life and the importance of death through Aztec mythology.

You play as a warrior protecting the ecosystem of the underworld against those lured by the greed of immortality. 

The goal of the game is to collect flowers though out the level. The flowers in the game give the character the ability to fly/hover through the game demo. 

The game went through different stages to where it is now. The idea was to pull inspiration from a story from Aztec folklore on The Legend of the Cempasuchil Flower. In the game, you play as Huitzilin after the Aztec gods guide him on a journey to search for his significant other.

The team worked diligently to showcase the demo to look at the character in the game and the environment esthetic of what would be there. The team took strides to imagine what a version of a Latinx video game would look like with the time we had.

How to Play:

Anyone can play this game demo with a Windows or Mac computer.
